We invited our CEO, Jeffrey Mora to commemorate Grupo STT´s 22nd anniversary, who shared with us how has the whole process been from an entrepreneurship to a multinational, as Grupo STT is today.
We go back to 1999 where in Costa Rica the option of having a third party manage your payroll was unthinkable for the companies; the word “outsourcing” was not known and it was like this that Jeffrey Mora started in its parent´s garage doing accounting. Once he finished his Master’s Degree in Finance he heard about globalization and started doing business with transnational companies, being this a pleasant experience.
Openings of New Subsidiaries
Grupo STT has presence in 26 countries and 3 continents. “The process has been the mastery of my life, to incorporate the corresponding offices according to the client´s needs”, comments Jeffrey Mora.
Overcome Challenges
“When you start there are always challenges, what happens is that they change according to how they progress”.- Jeffrey Mora
- At the beginning the challenge was to make us known and who would buy the service form us.
- In 2010-2015, the most important challenge was to change technology and start certifying us in ISO 9001, 27001 standards, among others. All this process has been gradual, but today we see the benefits, since Grupo STT is one of the first certified companies.
- The company´s staff is very different from the one 22 years ago; there is a whole protocol because not everyone has the energy that is required to work in Grupo STT due to our corporate clients´ demands.
- The pandemic came in a time when things were going well; we had to recalculate all our numbers to move on. The global financial crisis of 2008 made us resilient and the benefits have been that the team has remained and has managed to overcome this new pandemic crisis.
The greatest satisfaction
“The greatest satisfaction is the growth of each of the people, when they joined the company and what there are now, I think it´s the best one can enjoy, it is like seeing your children grow and mature”. For Jeffrey Mora, more than the economic or commercial part, it is gratifying to see the collaborators as leaders focused on Grupo STT´s strategy.
Grupo STT´s Pillars of Success
- In a digital economy, Grupo STT stands out for its technology and flexibility, because we adjust ourselves to what the client requires.
- Collaborators who have been in the company for more than 7, 10, 15 years are an important bulwark; they already have DNA within the company. The challenge is to achieve the same with new generations which are more dynamic.
- The business promise is fulfilled in a very good percentage with the quality of service, which grants us the respect of clients that currently give us the privilege of serving them.
Grupo STT´s keys to stand out as provider in outsourcing services
- Working with many of the Fortune 500 or publicly listed companies in different places of Latin America, gives us recognition.
- Having different certifications, puts us on a higher level; providing informatic security, process safety, continuous improvement, and references us as outsourcing experts.
Characteristics that a CEO should have nowadays
A CEO must have two or three degrees, always studying or researching different common sectors or related to the business. Master 2 or 3 languages. It has to like technology to adequately lead that area which is essential today.
It must have soft skills, guide staff to achieve objectives, handle teams assertively and when things are complicated carry out solutions.
Looking Forward
We have a great opportunity in South America of having an exponential growth, in Central America and the Caribbean we will continue to strengthen the innovation area.
In the case of Mexico, while the outsourcing regulations are given, we’re growing but moderately.
The clients are going to receive technological service and training in this new outsourcing era.
Message from Jeffrey Mora on Grupo STT´s 22nd anniversary
“First thank God, my family and of course all the collaborators and clients that in these 22 years have been in the company believing and improving this project.
We are a great family and we try to improve that happiness within the team so that positive energy is transmitted not only to our clients, but also to our families”.
